Our Approach

Our mission is to support collective action for community resilience.

We are working towards a world where the most marginalized members of society have a powerful and sustainable avenue to collectively build the future they want for themselves and their communities.

We believe…

  • When we invest in the agency of local actors to create change, we exponentially and cost effectively dismantle poverty and build resilience from the inside out.

  • There needs to be a fundamental shift in the way we tackle poverty reduction, moving towards investing in the promise of collective action.

  • While there are varying approaches to community engagement, a holistic focus on empowerment and collective action drives transformative change.

How We Work

Bridging Collaborations

We facilitate connections between different stakeholders, including local and international practitioners, donors and the public and private sectors, to bridge perspectives, share learnings and catalyze partnerships.

Shifting Systems

We innovate to directly shift power and funding to local actors, and advocate for changes in processes and systems at the donor, government, UN and INGO level that support increased accessibility, transparency and accountability.

Research & Learning

We package and generate knowledge around community-driven collective action, the impact of Self Help Groups and the most effective models to bridge national and global stakeholders to help practitioners implement their work.

Strengthening an Ecosystem

The Share Trust supports and strengthens Self Help Groups in a holistic way by engaging across the broader ecosystem to better address the systemic barriers and opportunities grassroots initiatives face.

Amplify the organic growth of SHGs by building a strong community of practice around the model through technical support, training, advocacy and research.

Partner with LNOs so they can (1) develop proof points around shifting power, process and funding to local actors, and (2) provide support and resources to Self Help Groups.

Shift bilateral and government systems to center community-driven collective action to ensure that Self Help Groups operate in an environment that allows them to thrive.
